As Molly leaves to go shopping, she agrees to bring home some things for her calico cat. Back and forth she races, Mother Hubbard-style, with readers following her into the greengrocer for catnip, the sweetshop for a raspberry mouse, and so forth. Meanwhile, Puss roams from one room to another, putting each new thing to her own special use. Then at the end of a very busy day, Molly has the purrfect surprise for her cat. The sweetly cunning cat and its indulgent owner are rendered with sly humor and brilliant color.
