MR COOKIE BAKER'S
SUGAR COOKIES

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons milk

Mix together 2 cups of the flour, the baking powder and salt. Cream together the butter and sugar. Then beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and milk. Stir in the flour mixture, then gradually add enough of the remaining flour to make the dough stiff enough to roll. Form the dough into a ball. Chill at least 1 hour. Preheat oven to 375. Place the dough on a floured surface and roll out to 1/8-inch thinkness. Cut with cookie cutters and place on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake about 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. (Makes about 4 dozen cookies.)

 

 

 

FROSTING
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 tablespoons milk (approximate) Colored sprinkles

Cream together the shortening, sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir in 3 tablespoons of the milk. Gradually add enough of the remaining milk to make a smooth and spreading consistency. Spread on cookies with smooth-edged knife, then decorate with colored sprinkles. Make the cookies colorful and have Fun!
